Voice Actors for Three Characters From Japanese Series ‘Sailor Moon’ Added to Guest Celebrity Lineup For Spa-Con Comics and Pop Culture Convention in Hot Springs

DATE: AUGUST 3, 2025

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Voice actors from the popular “Sailor Moon” television series will be guest celebrities at Hot Springs’ ninth Spa-Con comics and pop culture convention September 19 – 21.

Terri Hawkes, Susan Roman and Ron Rubin will join the roster of celebrities interacting with fans at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

The “Sailor Moon” TV series, which ran in the 1990s, is based on the Japanese series of shojo manga (comic books for young girls) about a young middle school student from Tokyo who learns from a talking cat that she is actually a reincarnation of a princess from the Moon Kingdom, Sailor Moon.

“’Sailor Moon’ is a ‘90s classic, and Spa-Con is so honored to have such talented voice actors joining us this year,” Visit Hot Springs Special Projects Manager Alexis Hampo said. “Just having one of the voice actors from ‘Sailor Moon’ would have been an honor, but to have three from the series is out of this world.”

Terri Hawkes’ portrayal of Sailor Moon (Serena) in the original North American dub of “Sailor Moon,” Seasons 1 and 2, skyrocketed her popularity with multiple generations of fans. The impact of her performance resonates to this day, and the enthusiasm she generates wherever she appears shows how truly dedicated “Sailor Moon” fans are.

For Susan Roman, a lifetime of working in animation has allowed her to pursue her passion for characterization and enabled her to land projects that went on to become classics. Her spirited portrayal of Sailor Jupiter (Lita) in the original “Sailor Moon” dub struck a chord with audiences, who’ve been loyal “jupes” supporters ever since.

As one of the most in-demand voice actors in the business, Ron Rubin has created dozens of unforgettable characters in a succession of hugely popular animated series. But he’s probably best known for originating the voice of Artemis in “Sailor Moon,” a role which he performed for the entire run of the North American Series.

Spa-Con tickets — $35 for daily passes and $150 for weekend passes — can be purchased at www.spa-con.org.

The three “Sailor Moon” actors join a previously announced roster of guests that includes Peelander-Z, the Japanese action comic punk band from outer space, and world-renowned costume creator Thomas DePetrillo, famous for his Extreme Costumes developed for Hasbro, Power Rangers, Intel and others.

In addition, Spa-Con will welcome back acclaimed cosplay duo Cowbutt Crunchies, who specialize in complex couture cosplay and incredible pop culture based designs.

Also appearing as a special guest celebrity at this year’s Spa-Con will be

Zeno Robinson, the award-winning actor who voices Hawks in the “My Hero Academia” anime series.

“Spa-Con is going on its ninth year in Hot Springs, so of course it’s going to be a good one,” Hampo said.
