Vehicles Connected to ‘Back to the Future,’ ‘Fast and Furious’ Will Be on Display at Spa-Con Infinity — Eighth Edition — September 20 – 22 at the Hot Springs Convention Center

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Two iconic vehicles with connections to famed movie franchises — “Back to the Future” and “The Fast and the Furious” — will be on display in September when Spa-Con Infinity — Eighth Edition — brings together comics and pop culture fans from across the region at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

“We’ll have a 1981 DMC DeLorean featured in ‘Back to the Future’ and the actual 1985 Pontiac Fiero used in ‘The Fast and the Furious 9 (Fast Saga),’” Visit Hot Springs Special Events Manager Alexis Hampo said. “And Scott Velvet, owner of the Celebrity Car Museum, will be with us to showcase these iconic cars. It’s bound to be great.”

Spa-Con Infinity — Eighth Edition — will run from September 20 – 22. Weekend passes and VIP passes are available now at www.spa-con.org.

The 1981 DMC DeLorean Time Machine, the iconic car from the “Back to the Future” trilogy, has the ability to time travel because of the “flux capacitor.” In the first movie of the series Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is sent back in the time-traveling DeLorean that was invented by scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd).

The 1985 Pontiac Fiero used in “The Fast and The Furious 9 (Fast Saga)” has rocket engines attached, giving it the ability to fly. The car was designed by the character Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) and driven by the character Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson). The car was used by Roman and Tej Parker (Ludacris) to travel to outer space and destroy a satellite.

Scott Velvet is also known for his role in the show “Game of Pawns,” where he and Brian Roman buy unusual items at Branson Pawn.

“It’s always such a great time having Scott Velvet come to Spa-Con,” Hampo said. “Over the last few years he has brought in some vehicles worthy of celebrity status and this year is no different.

“Both cars fit in with our space branding this year, which I think is super cool. One car time-travels, and the other was launched into outer space, how fitting for Spa-Con.”

Internationally known nerdcore rapper MC Lars will open Spa-Con Infinity — Eighth Edition — on Friday night, September 20. The concert, to be held in the Convention Center’s Horner Hall, is free with the purchase of Spa-Con VIP passes or weekend passes. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7.

Seth Gilliam, best known for his role as Father Gabriel Stokes in the “Walking Dead” TV series, was announced previously as the first guest celebrity to be confirmed for this year’s Spa-Con.
