Nationally Known Artists to Interact With Fans During Spa-Con Season 7 in Hot Springs September 22 – 24

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Three nationally known artists with different styles will be on hand all weekend to interact with fans during the Spa-Con Season 7 comic and pop culture convention, September 22 – 23 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Artists Pat Moriarity, Daniel Scott Jr., and Jerry Bingham will be available for fans to meet in the Spa-Con Expo Hall all weekend.

“This year’s artists are so talented and really vary in style, “Visit Hot Springs Special Events Manager Alexis Hampo said. “We’ll have a comic artist, a pop artist and an animator. Each of them will host a panel discussion on their respective art styles. Participation in the panels is included with the purchase of a Weekend or VIP Pass.”

Daniel Scott Jr. is a pop artist who makes his art entirely out of candy wrappers, Hampo said. With more than 25 years perfecting this technique, his portfolio consists of stunning portraits depicting the likeness of pop culture icons and movies.

Jerry Bingham is an American comic artist who has worked for both Marvel and DC. He is known for his artwork on “Black Panther,” “Iron Man,” “Spiderman,” “Marvel Team-Up,” “Marvel Two-In-One,” and the DC Comics graphic novels “Batman: Son of the Demon,” “Batman: In Darkest Knight” and “Batman: Super Powers” also known as “Batman Confidential.” His awards include 1984 Jack Kirby Award, 1987 Golden Apple Award and the 1999 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.

Pat Moriarity is an artist, cartoonist, designer, illustrator and animator. His recent clients include Rhino Records, Stand Up! Records and Adobe Software. He animated an official music video for the Minneapolis rock band The Replacements in 2022. Moriarity has been a guest at Spa-Con before and said, “I love Hot Springs and look forward to returning for 2023”!

Hampo said, “Spa-Con is thrilled that Pat Moriarity will be joining us again this year, he was a favorite when he was a guest in 2019.”

The schedule for panel discussions with the artists in the Expo Hall:

  • Saturday 11 a,m. — All things Animation with Pat Moriarity
  • Saturday 2 p.m. — Bringing Life to Batman with Jerry Bingham
  • Sunday 11 a.m. — Finding Your Muse with Daniel Scott Jr

All artists will be available to meet in the Spa-Con Expo Hall all weekend.

Highlights of Spa-Con Season 7 announced previously include Spa-Con Showdown 2023, a top-rated video gaming Saturday, September 23, at Bank OZK Arena. It will feature the recently released Street Fighter 6, and will have a $1,000-plus pot bonus added to the players’ entry fees.

The Season 7 convention begins Friday evening with a concert by Galactic Empire, which calls itself the galaxy’s foremost progressive technical heavy metal Star Wars cosplay John Williams tribute band. Concert tickets are available at www.spa-con.org

Other features for include cosplay workshops and appearances as well as appearances by the 1972 Winnebago RV featured in the fourth season of “Stranger Things” and the sheriff’s 2000 Ford Crown Victoria from “The Walking Dead.”

Also appearing will be Annabeth Gish, known to “X-Files” fans as Special Agent Monica Reyes, comedian, writer, actor, producer Orlando Jones, who has been called “the King of Fandom” by MTV, and Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, who starred in the blockbuster movies “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
